Black Lives Matter. The Middle Atlantic Chapter of the American Orff-Schulwerk Association joins our national organization in condemning the systemic racism and institutional violence that has plagued our society and, in particular, the Black community. We stand in solidarity with Black Lives Matter and advocate for greater justice and equity for all. We are committed to reflection, action, and change within our chapter and the broader music and movement education community.
We stand with AOSA’s Statement Denouncing Violence Against Black People and agree that our Mission, Core Values, and Diversity and Inclusion Statement are not just words, but must be shown through actions as an organization and as a chapter.
As a chapter, we have compiled some resources regarding equity, diversity, and justice that are a good place to further our journey of learning. We encourage members to continue this dialogue and engage in their own meaningful growth.
